Purpose
Under the general title of Waistcoat Man's General Ops, CQC can offer a range of products, which alternatively go under the name of Combat Vests or Chest Webbing. These can all be used by Special Forces, Combat Soldiers or indeed Police incident teams, to carry operational equipment in situations where a waistcoat system is seen to be a preferable alternative to standard waist belt webbing sets. The waist belt system is designed to carry various removable pouches on the belt, supported by a yoke, and is usually designed deliberately to accept a rucksack as a standard part of operational equipment. The waistcoat system carries fixed pouches on the upper body, and has the benefit of spreading the load over the person. The pouches are readily accessible, and pockets can be provided on the inside as well as outside the garment. A rucksack system can be offered to complement the set.
Description
Although standard designs can be offered it is generally found that individual customers have their own detailed requirements as to the items they wish to carry in the pouches. Ammunition, and water bottle pouches are usually necessary, possibly with grenade and first field dressing products. Internal zipped pockets can be provided for maps or food, or a concealed pistol holder can be included. Facilities can be included for radio or even karabiners or for handcuffs for police teams.
Usually the set is made from a mesh back (to give better ventilation), with the front pouches made from textured nylon, as used for standard issue 90 pattern webbing. Normally, only one size is necessary, with adjustment for height given at the shoulders, and a facility across the back for girth adjustment. Colours can be standard Olive Drab or Black, or Camouflage patterns can be provided.
The illustration shows a standard sample currently in operational use and carrying a NATO Stock Number (as overleaf), but there are several alternatives. CQC have found that by discussion with the end-user, they can design and prepare samples to meet individual customer's special needs.
