International Status / History
CQC was founded in Chelsea in 1948 as a manufacturer of quality quilts and bedding for cruise ships and prestigious department stores. From this beginning, it progressed into the manufacture and supply of Sleeping Bags for the British MoD during the Korean War.

In 1967 CQC moved from Chelsea, London (hence CQC's origin - Chelsea Quilt Company) to Barnstaple, North Devon - where it remains today.
Over the years, the company has expanded both its premises and product range and now offers a multiplicity of manufactured goods upon which it has earned its enviable reputation as a designer and producer of quality military textile products.
During its history, the company has changed hands several times, passing from private to public ownership and in 1999 the company was acquired by the present directors, taking CQC back into private ownership. The Directors' firmly believe this move created greater flexibility for both the customer and company, offering further opportunities to extend and enhance our products and services to both existing and potential customers.

With over 50 years manufacturing experience, CQC has grown rapidly to achieve enviable status as a specialist manufacturer in the defence industry.
